Stays Abroad

Take on a new challenge, make international friends and look beyond your own horizon. Your studies offer you the opportunity to embark on the adventure of a stay abroad and to develop both professionally and personally. Dare to!

The Business School supports you in your plans, whether as a compulsory part of the International Business degree program, as a substitute for a mandatory internship, or as a voluntary semester abroad:

1. Planning

You should start planning your stay abroad early and think about where and how you would like to spend your time abroad at least a year in advance. It may be helpful for you to develop a timetable of which steps should be completed by when. You can use a checklist to help you find out which steps should be taken into account.

2. Searching for information

There are many ways to find out about studying abroad. Here are some possibilities you can use:

  • Information events: During the course of a semester, information events are offered for those interested in a stay abroad, which are organised by our department and the International Office. We provide information about these events by e-mail and on notice boards.
  • International Business Office: Ask your questions regarding study abroad options or internships abroad in person or by email. Feel free to make an appointment.
  • International Office of Trier University of Applied Sciences: Contact the central International Office for information on international partner universities, some of which do not belong to the department's cooperation partners. The International Office can also help you with questions on scholarship for the study abroad period.
  • DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service):
This organisation is one of the world's largest funding institutions for international student exchange. You can find information there about a possible study or internship abroad, about universities worldwide and about the countries in which you can spend your stay.

3. Options

4. Funding opportunities

Many students who take the step to study abroad ask themselves how their stay abroad can be financed. There are a variety of funding options available to you in this context, such as the Auslands-BAföG or scholarships as well as foundations.

5. Registration

Once you have found your destination, the next step is to register with us.
You can apply for a place at one of our partner universities twice a year. You can apply in early February for the winter semester and in September for the summer semester. The nomination will then be made by our International Business Coordinator.

You will receive information on the application process the exact deadlines in good time by email.
