Applying for a Specialisation

When should you apply for your specialisation to be added to your final certificate?

At the end of the degree programme (generally not before the last assessment, usually the final thesis or practical project), you can apply for the specialisation(s). You can only apply for your specialisation(s) after completing your study abroad year and receiving your transcript of records from the partner university.

However, you already have the opportunity to have your submitted Learning Agreement checked to see whether individual modules can be included in the specialisation during your year abroad. Please submit the documents listed below in addition to your Learning Agreement. However, recognition is only possible once your transcript of records from the year abroad is available.

How can you apply for your specialisation?

Please submit to the International Business Office:

    • the form "Antrag zum Studienschwerpunkt als Zusatz auf dem Bachelorzeugnis". List all the modules that you would like to use for your specialisation.
    • the relevant module descriptions. The module descriptions should indicate the content of the modules, the workload (credits) and the language of instruction (in the case of a language specialisation).
    • your transcript of records from your study abroad.

Afterwards, our professors will assess whether the modules you selected are relevant to your desired specialisation and if the requirements for the specialisation are met.

After our professors have assessed your application for a specialisation, you will receive feedback from us. If your application for a specialisation as an addition to your Bachelor's certificate has been approved, you will receive it back from us.

    Please note:

    • Assessing your application for a specialisation may take some time. Therefore, please submit your documents for applying for a specialisation in good time and in full.
    • When you register your Bachelor's thesis, please indicate on the thesis registration form whether you would like to have a specialisation designated or whether the application will be submitted at a later date.
