With the help of the EU's Erasmus program, studying abroad in Europe is comparatively straightforward. With relatively few formalities and no tuition fees, plus an Erasmus grant, it is possible—depending on the existing university partnerships in the relevant degree program—to afford a period of study abroad.
As a rule, you should contact the International Office about 12 months before the start of your studies abroad to clarify the availability of Erasmus study places. It's important not to overlook the fact that in many countries, both summer and winter semesters start earlier than here—in spring, sometimes as early as the second week of January! In some cases, there is a selection process for particularly sought-after study places.
