a.i.m. rlp is responsible for the application for EU-projects, their realisation and their evaluation within the ERASMUS program. This includes a comprehensive support of students and graduates who are interested in doing an internship abroad. Leonardo-Contact helps to find placements for internships by offering contacts to businesses that have already had Erasmus interns as well as information on financing of placements abroad, support in accommodation seeking through passing on information of experiences of former students and general information on staying abroad. During the placements the a.i.m. rlp is point of contact for all organisational questions which includes negotiations with companies and corporations should any problems arise.
The international office is responsible for the support of studies, advanced trainings and internships abroad with the provision of suitable financing options and information as well as the support of students from abroad. Additionally the international office promotes international co-operations with universities in other countries.

Sexual harassment is not a trivial offence
The University of Applied Sciences Trier seeks to create an open and tolerant work atmosphere for all employees and students. Should you experience sexual harassment anyway, you can always turn to the central equality officer, Prof. Dr. Rita Spatz, for advice and support.

Further steps will only be taken with your expressed consent.

Studying with a family can be a financial challenge. Some students with families are eligible for additional public support or scholarships.
The Family Service comprises diverse offers of information and practical advice. Core of the service is family advice. Apart from financial support options, information on child care options and legal rights and duties of student parents and working parents are also available.
The equality office holds counselling to a variety of topics (e. g. compatibility of Studies/Job and Family, care for the elderly, sexual harrasment/other forms of discrimination, financial support topics and many more). Further, the equality office pleads for equal opportunities.
In the context of the certification as a family friendly university, the University of Applied Sciences Trier has committed itself to creating child care opportunities. For example a parent-child-room is available which allows student and employed parents to care for their child should the normal child care facilities be closed. It can also be used to change or nurse babies. Apart from holiday programs the university also offers an after school or after nursery care opportunities which support you should you have to stay on longer for an evening event or a late lecture.

Students who are faced with taxing situations or difficulties in personal matters and seek help can turn to the psycho-social support office. During the stated office hours Dipl-Psychologists Iris Lorenz and Nicole Arendt will give advice or make appointments for further counselling. The advice and support is free and subject to professional discretion.
Students and employees with families enjoy certain legal privileges but also have certain duties to fulfil. For example maternity protection laws, maternity and paternity leaves rules, health insurance rules and rules for the care for a sick child should be observed.

The Studierendenwerk Trier supports students in terms of meals, lodgings and social services. In financial difficulties the Studierendenwerk can offer different forms of loans and scholarships. There are also offers for students with children, e.g. the start-up-set for young parents or the “Windelstipendium” (diaper scholarship). Closer Information on these offers you can find on the website of the Studierendenwerk under the heading “leben”. The services also comprise advice on social, psychological and legal matters as well as acting as estate agents or as a car and van rental service.
The Career-Service offers students and graduates advice on all matters concerning career development as well as job offers from the job centres of the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (German Federal Job Agency).
Apart from that the career service offers workshops on interdisciplinary key qualifications and, with the help of the company contact fair and the job exchange, creates links to companies for: internships, dissertations and jobs – on the regional, national and international level.
