User-ID for students

All students at the university locations Trier and Idar-Oberstein receive a user-ID from the IT deparment Trier, consisting of login name + password = your personal "key" to the IT infrastructure:

To activate your user ID online, you will need your student ID card. You will receive this card after successful enrollment from the beginning of the semester (WS: 1.9.20xx, SS: 1.3.20xx) in person, upon presentation of your ID card at the Study Service of Trier University of Applied Sciences. 

Please note: The online activation can only be carried out once! After activation, your "Applicant access, (" is no longer valid.

If there is no possibility for "online activation", or an error has occurred on your system, this can be done at the IT-ServicePoint of the IT department at Schneidershof in room G9, upon presentation of your valid student ID card.

How to request a new password:

  • By email with selfie (self-portrait):
    Send us an email to the Helpdesk with a "selfie" clearly showing you and your student ID card. We will then reset your password to the initial password and re-enable you to download your user-ID handout.
  • In person:
    If you have forgotten your password to your user-ID, go to the IT ServicePoint in person and present your student ID card.
    You can (have) a new password set on site.
  • By a deputy:
    If you want to authorize another person, give this person a power of attorney and a copy of your official ID card (students additionally your certificate of study). The authorized person must be listed by name and must also be able to identify himself/herself. We will then hand out the password directly in the envelope.
  • By mail:
    You ask us in writing with a handwritten signature (i.e. no fax) that we set a new password for you, and you tell us in your letter which password you want us to set for you. Please enclose a copy of your student ID card and your official ID card and send it to us in a sealed envelope by letter post, house mail or personal messenger to the following address:

    Your password will be reset at the IT-ServicePoint as soon as the letter arrives.

    Attention: There will be no written reply!

What we do not do:
If we cannot determine your identity, we will not make a new password entry, i.e. telephone calls are pointless in this context.

Validity of the user-ID

The user-ID will be deleted at the earliest six months after exmatriculation. In any case, you will be notified by e-mail before the deletion. If you do not want to view any e-mails to your university e-mail address during this transitional period, please remove the forwarding you set up yourself to

After deletion od your user-ID there is no way to reconstruct data, e-mails, etc.. It is therefore advisable to back up your own data in good time.   

Changes of department or study program within the university are automatically synchronized with the data of the study service. You will receive an automatically generated notification by e-mail. As a rule, your user-ID will be retained.
