Awareness: State of IT Security

The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) headlines its report on the state of IT security in Germany in 2023 with the sentence: "Ransomware is and remains the greatest threat". Government institutions are increasingly at the centre of attacks. The threat to our university is therefore also still high. Software vulnerabilities and phishing attempts are gateways. The use of AI means that increasingly sophisticated phishing emails can be expected in the future.

We will therefore never tire of sensitising you to this issue and reminding you of it:

• Be careful when dealing with emails and follow our advice on phishing and email hygiene.
• Keep your software products up to date. Install updates as quickly as possible.
