Mia Seeger Design award

Mia Seeger Prize 2020 - Foundation announces annual competition for junior designers. In order to promote young designers, the foundation, with the support of the Hans Schwörer Foundation and the German Design Council, announces the Mia Seeger Prize 2020 and endows it with a total prize money of 10,000 euros.

The call is aimed at young designers. We are looking for product designs and concepts that deal with the important aspects of our lives and coexistence and propose innovative and meaningful solutions. Special attention should be paid to the way people - professionally and privately, old and young, healthy or sick - communicate with each other and make themselves understood. The social benefit is decisive for the evaluation of the submitted works; of course the products designed should meet the usual design criteria, i.e. be innovative, environmentally compatible and of a high design level. Students and graduates at German universities in design courses are invited to participate.

You can participate in the competition with student research projects or theses that were written between 2018 and 2020. Group work is also welcome. Since trans- or interdisciplinary aspects are becoming more and more prominent in the course of studies, it can be left open as to which subject areas the submissions are to be assigned to.

However, they should be designs of objects of practical use, which on the one hand differ from purely media products and on the other hand from objects of architecture. The closing date for entries is 17 April 2020. Further information can be found at www.design-center.de.
