The architect and professor of Circular Building, Construction, and Materials at Trier University of Applied Sciences focuses on methods for a sustainable building culture. Her work centers on three interrelated strategies: critically examining and reducing construction needs; tapping into the existing building stock as an anthropogenic resource; and, finally, designing necessary new buildings and renovations to be circular—with a focus on structures made of wood, clay, and renewable raw materials, as well as detachable joints.
As a co-author and co-editor of the “Atlas Recycling—Buildings as a Material Resource” and its sequel, “Atlas Circular Construction,” to be published by DETAIL-Verlag in 2027, Petra Riegler-Floors combines academic expertise with experience from architectural practice. Her work offers new perspectives on how design, material selection, and construction can contribute to climate and resource conservation.
The lecture is aimed at students, faculty, planners, and anyone who would like to help shape the future of construction. More informations here.
