In relation to the event „Offene Ateliers – Bildende Kunst, Schmuck und Design“, organised by the artist Anina Gröger from Pforzheim, the company SCHÜTT presents its 12. Annual Special Exhibition. This year, they are welcoming the Arnhem-based Dutch artist Erik Lijzenga with his solo exhibition “The Collective”.
Lijzenga’s artistic practice straddles the roles of collector, designer and artist. In his works, he combines stone, wood and found objects, exploring the tension between preservation and transformation. Objects are collected and valued for their original form, yet at the same time are given a new meaning through new compositions and contexts. Lijzenga graduated with an MFA in Gemstones and Jewellery at the Gemstone and Jewellery Campus in Idar-Oberstein in 2024.
Stone plays a special role in Lijzenga’s work. During the Open Studios, visitors have the opportunity to meet the artist in person and watch him at work with stone.
