Exhibition Illustration and Book Design in the Picture Book Museum Troisdorf

At the beginning of September, the "Illustration Foundation" invited to a workshop and exhibition at the Picture Book Museum in Troisdorf for the 13th time. Prof. Henriette Sauvant and her students exhibited works from their teaching area of book illustration in the field of communication design.

On the occasion of the 13th workshop of the Illustration Foundation, students of the Design Campus are exhibiting their work on the theme "Classics made new! The students' task, under the direction of Prof. Sauvant, was to explore the question of how illustrations can be used to reinterpret classical texts. First, they created drafts, studies and sketches for texts such as The Panther by Rainer Maria Rilke, The Erlking by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe or Krabat by Otfried Preußler. This was followed by the illustrations, whereby the creative realisation was left to the students' discretion.

The students' works will be on display in the Picture Book Museum of the City of Troisdorf from 2 September to 23 October 2022. In terms of content, they are part of the workshop of the Illustration Foundation, which was held under the eponymous title "Classics made new!" from 2 to 3 September 2022 at the Picture Book Museum.

Henriette Sauvant spoke at the workshop on behalf of all the exhibitors with Katja Gerischer, who presented her Erlkönig, and Jessica Frascht, who reported on her Panther.

In addition, works by Iris Jackel, Max Braun, Antonia Rib, Sandy Reuter, Elena Guthmann, Nina Maria Drangmeister, Luca Maria Julien, Benita König, Ferhad Ahmad, Paula Strehle, Viviane Lautejoul, Helen Marie Michel, Luca Steffen, Michelle Donnert, Kathrin Schneider, Theresa Ellenrieder, Irina Ruprecht, Valerie Simanowski, Sarah Schotte, Lisa Schädler, Nils Schmitz, Klara Driessen, Alina Beck, Renee Loric, Larissa Goffert, Lena Simon, Nele Kran, Annika Höfer, Hannah Schwickerath, Jacqueline Schnoor and Ketevan Tskjadadze.
