VAPS is a web-based system for managing theses, projects and seminars at the Department of Computer Science.
It supports the entire process, from the initial agreement on a topic to submission and assessment. Students, supervisors, examiners, members of staff and the Examination Board can use VAPS to access relevant information, complete required steps and monitor the current status.
VAPS provides centralised and standardised management and archiving of theses, projects and seminars.
Once students have agreed on a topic for a project or thesis with a supervisor, the corresponding assignment is created in VAPS. Students must then log in to the system and confirm the details of the assignment, in particular the specified period of completion.
The work is shown as active in the system throughout the period of completion. Once the supervisor has recorded the work as submitted, students are required to submit a declaration of independent authorship and provide information regarding archiving and possible publication.
After the work has been marked, students can view their marks in the system. VAPS sends email notifications whenever students need to take action.
VAPS also provides a topic exchange to help students find suitable topics and supervisors.
Professors and other members of academic staff can publish topic proposals for projects and theses. Students can browse the available topics and express their interest directly in VAPS.
Students can also propose their own topic and use the portal to find other students interested in working on a project together.
