Since the 2015/2016 winter term, the Department of Computer Science has been offering the dual, training-integrated Bachelor’s degree programme in “Speech and Language Therapy” in cooperation with the School of Speech and Language Therapy at the Catholic Hospital Koblenz–Montabaur in Koblenz and the School of Speech and Language Therapy at the cts SchulZentrum St. Hildegard in Saarbrücken.
This dual, training-integrated degree programme imparts broad fundamental knowledge, methods and theories of speech and language therapy, with particular emphasis on specialist knowledge and methods of evidence-based therapy. The combination of academic study and vocational training ensures a close integration of academic and practice-oriented content at a high level.
Students develop the ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired in their professional practice, to independently identify, analyse and solve problems using scientific approaches, and to work in an interdisciplinary and problem-oriented manner, taking the patient’s needs into account.
The programme is competence-oriented, problem-oriented and, above all, patient-centred. Collaboration with the existing degree programmes in Physiotherapy, Medical Technology and Medical Informatics at Trier University of Applied Sciences enables students to receive an interdisciplinary education.
The programme is offered exclusively in German.
