Cluster Sustainability: Remanufacturing & Circular Economy

How can products be given a second life?
What does a truly circular economy require?

We research and develop Re-X strategies (Repair, Reuse, Refurbish, Remanufacture) and design technical and organizational solutions for sustainable value creation in line with the European Green Deal.

European CoLab: GreenFab – Refabrication for a Sustainable Future
The European CoLab GreenFab develops hands-on teaching and demonstration formats for industrial refabrication and circular economy. Trier University of Applied Sciences and École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers combine expertise in circular design, remanufacturing, and robot-assisted assembly. The goal is to make Re-X strategies (Repair, Reuse, Refurbish, Remanufacture) tangible and integrate them into higher education. The industry partners Maneko from France and Vogtmann-Herold + Co. GmbH from Germany provide real-life use cases, supported by European multipliers. Hybrid formats create demonstrators, training modules, and kits for teaching and corporate training.

Microdegree „GreenFab – Remanufacturing Innovation & Circular Economy“
The Microdegree qualifies students and doctoral candidates in circular economy, remanufacturing, digital product passports, and business models. International teams work on real industry challenges in blended mobility formats and summer schools in France and Germany. Modules on innovative action, entrepreneurship, and fundraising complete the program.
