Cluster Digitalisation: Critical Computational Design for Just Environments

How can digital tools become more just?
What role does AI play in sustainable design?

We combine algorithmic design with ethical, ecological, and social perspectives to develop fair and future-oriented digital technologies.

Keywords: Computational Design, AI Ethics, Digital Architecture, Just Environments, Creative Tech
TRUST Partner: Trier University of Applied Sciences, University College London, elka-Holzwerke GmbH, Xylotek

European Innovation Residency
The Residency explores how digital tools and AI can support sustainable, equitable design processes. Trier University of Applied Sciences and the University College London combine expertise in computational design, anthropocene pedagogies, and AI-driven material research. Industry partners like elka-Holzwerke GmbH and Xylotek implement projects in sustainable timber construction. A transfer conference presents results and promotes European standards for ethical technology development.

Microdegree „Critical Computational Design for Just Environments“
The Microdegree provides critical digital skills, design-driven research capabilities, and systemic innovation thinking. Students work on real transfer projects in international teams, combining theory, prototyping, and applied practice in summer schools while developing communication and transfer skills.
