Do have questions? You’re not alone! Our FAQs for the Industrial Mentorship Programme are designed to help you quickly and easily. We’ve gathered all important information in one clear, accessible place – so you can find the answers you need without long search. And if anything remains unclear, we’re always happy to hear from you.
The programme runs from March to November 2026 and spans several months, from the kick-off phase to the closing event. However, the aim is for the mentoring relationship to continue independently beyond the official programme duration, if both mentee and mentor wish to do so.
The programme is open to doctoral candidates from all disciplines who are interested in academic or non-academic career paths.
Interested candidates complete the application form and submit it via email at K.Baumgaertner[@]hochschule-trier[.]de. After registration, participants receive initial information, and the matching process with suitable mentors begins.
Matching is based on the information provided in the application form, including academic background, interests, and career goals. The programme team coordinates the process.
The frequency of meetings is agreed upon individually by the mentee and mentor, depending on their needs. One meeting per month is recommended.
Mentees are expected to take an active role, define their goals, prepare for meetings, and contribute their own topics. Openness, commitment, and initiative are key.
Mentors share professional experience, provide feedback, and support reflection on career-related topics. They do not act as academic supervisors or job placement agents.
The programme team supports mentees and mentors throughout the programme, assists with organisational or communication issues, and provides resources such as checklists.
Participation in workshops, Industrial Talks, and other programme-related events is voluntary but strongly encouraged.
The programme concludes with a closing event in November. Participants receive a certificate of participation and may remain part of the mentoring network as alumni.
