THE FULBE TRIBE IS ONE OF THE LARGEST ETHNIC GROUPS IN WEST AFRICA. THE WOMEN OF THE TRIBE OFTEN WEAR PLAITED BRAIDS WHICH ARE DECORATED WITH SHELLS AND SILVER COINS. THESE COINS ARE OFTEN PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. ESPECIALLY STRIKING ARE THE COLORFUL EMBROIDERED ROBES ALSO CALLED 'MOJAARE'.
MEN AND WOMEN HAVE THEIR EYES AND LIPS DYED DARK WITH INDIGO WHEN THEY ARE STILL CHILDREN. THIS BRINGS OUT THE WHITE OF THE EYEBALLS AND TEETH BETTER, WHICH IS SEEN AS AN IDEAL OF BEAUTY.
THE PROTOTYPE IS INSPIRED BY THE FLOWING CHANGES OF FULFILLED WOMEN THROUGH WHICH WOMEN ARE JUST MAJESTIC. WITH THE BLACK CUT OUTS I HAVE TAKEN UP THE BEAUTY IDEAL OF THE TRIBE BY HAVING MEN AND WOMEN COLOR THEIR LIPS AND EYE CONTOURS BLACK SO THAT THE WHITE STANDS OUT EVEN MORE.
