Internationality is an integral part of the fashion industry, just as university studies are characterised by intercultural and transnational exchange.
For this reason, the Fashion Design Department has maintained close contacts with partner universities abroad for many years and is continuously expanding its international cooperation worldwide. Particularly noteworthy are its contacts to renowned trend agencies and fashion labels in fashion metropolises such as London or Paris: numerous students from Trier are doing internships there, for example with Alexander Mc Queen or Hussein Chalayan in London.
International workshops are also held in Trier to intensify the exchange between teachers and students. The international contacts are supplemented by regular excursions to the fashion metropolises (Paris is only 3 hours away by train) to visit fashion trade fairs and current exhibitions.
In the 5th semester of the bachelor's programme, an exchange or practical semester abroad is planned to intensify the internationality. Here, students have the opportunity to study at one of our international partner universities or to do an internship abroad.
Prof. Bettina Maiburg is responsible for the international coordination of the distribution to the partner universities abroad: After an internal selection procedure in the subject area, students contact the International Office or Mr. Werner with a tabular curriculum vitae, a letter of motivation in the local language, a portfolio of their work and an application form from the respective university.
When looking for an international internship, students should contact the Leonardo contact point.
