BROADENING HORIZONS THROUGH INTERNATIONAL NETWORKING

Internationality is an integral part of the fashion industry, just as university studies are characterized by intercultural and transnational exchange.

The Fashion Design Department has therefore maintained close contacts with partner universities abroad for many years and is continuously expanding its international cooperation worldwide. Particularly noteworthy are its contacts with renowned trend offices and fashion labels in fashion capitals such as London and Paris: numerous students from Trier complete an internship there, for example with Alexander Mc Queen or Hussein Chalayan in London.

In addition, international workshops are held in Trier to intensify the exchange between teachers and students. The international contacts are supplemented by regular excursions to fashion capitals (Paris is only 3 hours away by train) to visit fashion trade fairs and current exhibitions.

In the 5th semester of the Bachelor's program, an exchange or practical semester abroad is planned to intensify the internationality. Here, students are given the opportunity to study at one of our international partner universities or to complete an internship abroad.

Prof. Bettina Maiburg is responsible for the international coordination of the distribution to the partner universities abroad. After an internal selection process in the department, students contact the International Office or Mr. Werner with a tabular curriculum vitae, a letter of motivation in the language of the country, a portfolio of their work, and an application form from the respective university.

When looking for an international internship, students should contact the Leonardo Contact Point. Prof. Bettina Maiburg is also responsible for this department.

Contact persons in the Fashion Design department for internships in Germany are Mrs. Claudia Hannig-Romann.
