AI Rollout - strengthening interdisciplinary and individual AI competences

The AI Rollout project implements a bundle of coordinated measures and, based on the existing AI expertise in the Department of Computer Science at Trier University of Applied Sciences, the qualification of future academic specialists in the field of AI and the use of AI technologies in higher education.

The guiding principle in all measures is to pair AI-specific methodological skills with application-specific skills or participants from the target group during the development and pilot phase in such a way that knowledge transfer is directly anchored in both directions.

In this way, computer science students add new areas of application to their range of skills, while students and teachers from other disciplines gain in-depth access to new and important technologies in their respective subjects. At the same time, teaching, lecturers and administrative institutions are supported by various AI measures so that they can focus more strongly on their core tasks. The measures are designed to be open and target group-orientated and take into account the different requirements of the participants.

Embedding the project at Trier University of Applied Sciences

In its mission statement, Trier University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of being an "attractive educational institution and professional co-operation partner for business, politics, culture, administration, schools and universities", while at the same time strengthening research and teaching through innovative research topics and teaching concepts. The area of didactically high-quality and skills-orientated teaching plays a prominent role in this. The "AI in higher education" programme and the associated interdisciplinary networking of topics via the measures described within the departments and university locations will create an institutionally anchored and thus sustainable opportunity for synergies in the field of AI. The beneficiaries of these measures are students and employees of the university from all faculties and departments, who can participate in the measures according to their individual goals and level of knowledge and thus contribute to a broadening of AI competences.
