Steps to a Successful Bachelor Application

Prerequisites

In the field of communication design, in addition to the generally required admission requirements for university studies and a job-related internship, drawing and design skills combined with creative imagination are desirable. Communication design in its manifold manifestations in scientific, social, political and cultural fields demands a high degree of general education from the communication designer.


Applicants with a general university entrance qualification should complete a preliminary internship of 12 weeks. As a rule, 8 weeks of this period must be completed at the start of the course, the remainder within one year of the start of the course.

Delivery of the Portfolio and Portfolio Examination

10 to 15 independently produced works are to be sent in or handed in in a stable, clean folder (max. A2). They can come from the following fields:

Drawing, graphics, writing and typography, photography, print graphics, computer-aided design, text design, film and video, sculpture.

Applicants should submit work which they themselves consider suitable as a basis for assessment.

(As we do not return any folders, we ask you to pick up your folders personally at the latest after half a year. Applicants who are invited to take the aptitude test can take the application folder with them on both days.)

Qualification Examination

The two-day aptitude test for the 2019 summer semester will take place on 11 and 12 June 2019, from 8:30 - 16:30 hours.
It comprises one task each:

- from the field of nature/object drawing
- from the field of illustration              
- from the field of font design
- from the field of design

The participants are expected to have skills in the performing arts.
Further application requirements can be obtained from the Student Secretariat at Schneidershof.

Portfolio Delivery for the Summer Semester 2022

by November 11, 2021, 12:00am at the latest.

Due to the current situation, the portfolio is delivered in digital form.

Please proceed as follows:

1. Digitalization of Your Work
You can submit 15 - 20 works as photographs and/or scans in colors as true to the original as possible. 
file format: JPEG / PDF - maximum file size: 20 MB - file/image naming: 2021_22-EPKD_Folder_NameFirstname_01.jpg

2. Create folder

Please collect the works in a folder with the name: 2021_22-EPKD_Folder_First Name.

3. File Upload

Qualification Examination for the Summer Semester 2021

Depending on the situation, the examination will take place on site or digitally.

Tuesday 07.12.2021 and
Wednesday 08.12.2021

If the aptitude test takes place digitally:
With the notification of the portfolio exam results, you will receive the topic of the term paper or to the four parts of the exam.
The submission will be done via file upload on the Seafile server. Link will follow.

Please collect the papers in a folder with the name: SoSe2021-EPKD_Hausarbeit_NameFirstName.
The deadline for submission will be announced.
