Intermedia Design (B.A.)

Networked Thinking and Creative Action

Intermedia design offers a course of study for people with different orientations - be they design, artistic or technological. The decisive factor is openness and the willingness to go through development processes as a creative person and to want to participate in the design of digital media.

The Three Most Important Reasons for Intermedia Design

1. We Are: Small but Fine

In small groups and with modern equipment we show you what is really important for your future professional life. This leaves time for individual feedback and personal support. Our lecturers and professors work actively in their professional field and teach based on the need to pass on their experience.

2. We Believe: in Your Individuality

Visions are not created by memorizing any content. That's why we don't prepare you for exams, but rather to be able to implement ideas independently and professionally. Knowledge is best memorized when it is applied practically. We believe that studying has a lot to do with trying things out. Find out what you enjoy and we will help you find your own identity as a designer with our study contents.

3. We Know: The Future Is Full of Challenges.

With a degree in intermedia design you can work in many areas. Thanks to the versatile education you are prepared for numerous jobs. During your studies, you will be trained for the challenges that await you in everyday working life with courses that prepare you for your career. For example in the field of communication as well as in structured working methods by creating concepts.

Practical Project Studies
After the Orientation Phase, Applied, Project-Based Work Forms the Focus of Your Studies.

In order to train you to become the creative personality of tomorrow, the lessons take place in small groups. This offers a lot of time for intensive and individually adapted supervision by the lecturers.

Each semester you will implement 4-5 larger and smaller projects, so that you will have an impressive portfolio at the end of your Bachelor's degree. In order to experience what your skills are worth, each semester offers different cooperations with partners from business, society and culture.

Creative, Interdisciplinary Environment
The Campus of Design Is Located on the Banks of the Moselle Near the City Centre.

Almost 1,000 students live and work here in the fields of intermedia design, communication design, fashion design, interior design and architecture.

In your career you will later work in mixed teams. You will also learn this through joint projects with students from other design subjects, but also from computer science (digital media and games).

Integrated into the course of studies is the annual 'Interdisciplinary Project Week', in which all subjects of the design department work together on interdisciplinary projects. The Campus of Design is then transformed into a bubbling creative pool in which students and lecturers from all disciplines work together on an interdisciplinary basis.
