Lecture on resource-efficient building and living

Panel discussion with PRF, Marc Flick and Uwe Wöhlert (Deputy Chairman of the Board of LBS Landesbausparkasse Südwest), moderated by Alexandra May; photographer Kristina Schäfer, Mainz

On 24.03.2022, Prof. Petra Riegler-Floors gave the lecture "Strategy for sustainable building" at the lecture evening "Resource-conserving building and living in private residential property" at the Centre for Building Culture in Mainz

In terms of climate protection goals, buildings offer enormous savings potential with regard to CO2 emissions. This applies not only to the operation of building services, but especially to energy consumption during the construction and demolition of buildings. In addition, the scarcity of resources for building materials also requires a rethink as early as the planning stage. Energy-saving construction techniques, the use of renewable and locally available materials, pure and thus recyclable constructions and, last but not least, the development of sufficiency-oriented building types are measures to conserve our energy and material resources.
Whether in the new construction of detached single-family houses or the renovation of condominiums in existing buildings, the construction tasks, especially in the private sector, can make a great contribution if the economical use of resources is considered in the design, planning and implementation.

The lecture evening provided an overview of concepts and measures, showed good example projects and shed light on economic efficiency.
Dr. Stehan Weinberg, State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of Rheinland-Pfalz, welcomed the audience. Prof. Petra Riegler-Floors, Dipl.-Ing. Architekt, gave the lecture "Strategies for Sustainable Building", followed by Marc Flick, Architekt BDA, Mainz, who gave the lecture "Houses in a Cycle".
This was followed by a panel discussion with PRF, Marc Flick and Uwe Wöhlert (Deputy Chairman of the Board of LBS Landesbausparkasse Südwest), which was moderated by Alexandra May (real estate economist and specialist journalist for the real estate industry).
