Detailed Information

Programme structure

During the first semesters, the main focus lies on a basic education in technical knowledge. Afterwards, the study modules cover more subject-specific topics and the students can set their own priorities by choosing from a range of compulsory elective modules. The course can be supplemented by an optional practical semester (or a study semester abroad) in order to gain practical experience. The seven-semester programme also qualifies students for a consecutive three-semester Master’s in Civil Engineering.

Academic degree

The Bachelor of Engineering degree is an internationally recognized academic degree that enables direct entry into a career as a civil engineer. Graduates of the seven-semester programme (with practical semester) have the opportunity to follow up with a three-semester Master’s programme, which enables them to emphasis on a major field of study within the civil engineering work field.

Admission requirements

Requirement for the admission is a general education entrance qualification (Abitur) or an advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife). The mandatory pre-study internship of 8 weeks must be completed by the end of the fourth semester and can be divided into periods of at least 3 weeks. It is recommended to complete at least 4 weeks before the start of the Bachelor’s programme.

A relevant vocational training course replaces the pre-study internship.

Practical semester

A practical semester is recommended to students who desire to upgrade their studies or wish to pursue the consecutive Master’s programme. Alternatively, it can be replaced by a study semester abroad.
