Session 2 : Nonprofit: Idea or Program?

Im kommenden Wintersemester startet unser neuer Bachelor-Studiengang Nonprofit und NGO-Management - das nehmen wir zum Anlass, Nonprofit-Management auch in unseren Veranstaltungen zum Thema zu machen.

Engagement jenseits der Profitorientierung wird weltweit immer wichtiger. Daher ist es uns eine besondere Freude, in Kooperation mit dem Deutsch-Amerikanischen Institut Saarland den bekannten Non-Profit-Experten Eric Staley im Rahmen einer kleinen Zoom-Vorlesungsreihe an unser Institut für Internationale und Digitale Kommunikation (InDi) einladen zu können.

Eric Staley hat mehr als 100 Organisationen in allen drei Sektoren - öffentlich, privat und gemeinnützig - beraten. Als freier Consultant und als Professor der University of Missouri hat er Kunstverbände, Sozialeinrichtungen, Universitäten, gemeinnützige und private Unternehmen beim Aufbau von Spenden- und Sponsoringprogramme beraten. Er schult Führungskräfte und Freiwillige und unterstützt öffentlich-private Partnerschaften bei der Einrichtung von Gemeinschaftsprojekten.

In vier englischsprachigen Zoom-Kurzvorträgen zeigt Professor Staley Chancen im gemeinnützigen Sektor und mögliche Beiträge von Non-Profit-Management zu einer nachhaltigeren Wirtschaft auf. Er stellt außerdem Grundlagen des Non-Profit-Managements und Beispiele aus dem US-Kontext vor.

Our new Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit and NGO Management starts in the winter semester - we take this as an opportunity to make nonprofit management a topic in our lectures.

Commitment beyond profit is becoming more and more important worldwide. It is therefore a particular pleasure to invite the well-known non-profit expert Eric Staley to a small series of Zoom lectures at our Institute for International and Digital Communication (InDi), in cooperation with the German-American Institute (DAI) Saarland.

Eric Staley has advised more than 100 organizations in all three sectors - public, private and nonprofit. As a freelance consultant and professor at the University of Missouri, he has helped art associations, social services, universities, nonprofits and private companies set up fundraising and sponsorship programs. He has trained executives and volunteers, and has supported public-private partnerships in setting up community projects.

In four short English-language Zoom lectures, Professor Staley aims to raise awareness of opportunities in the non-profit sector and the possible contributions of non-profit management to a more sustainable economy. He also presents the fundamentals of non-profit management and examples from the US context.
