Business Administration Dual (B.A.)

The "Bachelor of Arts - Business Administration dual" degree programme combines a business activity with an economic background (practice integrated) or commercial vocational training (training integrated) with an economics degree. With the training integrated model, both a commercial vocational qualification and an academic degree can be acquired. You will not only be familiarized with the basic content of business administration and related areas such as economics, private business law and business informatics, but also acquire key qualifications such as academic work, teamwork, language skills, presentation techniques and soft skills. You can set priorities in the areas of controlling, financial management & financial markets, marketing & corporate management, organization & information management and auditing / taxes / law (if necessary, the priorities are coordinated with the company). The theoretical scientific content of the course enables you to have the necessary entry qualification for a subsequent master’s course.

Benefits for companies and students

For companies, the dual study program has the chance to attract particularly motivated and qualified employees who strive for more than classic commercial training. The dual study program offers students the opportunity to clearly combine theory and practice, to acquire two degrees if necessary and to earn money during their studies. Anyone with a higher education entrance qualification who has a training contract with a cooperation company for the study period can apply. Companies can approach the university to conclude a cooperation agreement.

Structure of the course

Organizational structure
(dual studies with integrated training)

In the first year, the dual studies with integrated training focuses on practical training in the company, which can be supplemented by theoretical training at the vocational school.

The study phase at Trier University of Applied Sciences begins in the second year. Dual students attend courses in business administration during the lecture period, while in-company training takes place during the lecture-free period.

The practical phase takes place in the fourth semester in the training company and ends at the end of the third year with the final vocational examination at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

In the fourth year the students practice their commercial profession during the lecture-free period in the company and attend the courses of the degree programme again during the lecture periods.

Structure of content

The course is designed as a 6-semester full-time course and has a modular structure. Initially the general basics of business administration are laid with the basics of business administration and bookkeeping as well as internal company and investment accounting.
