"Photography, painting, drawing and graphic art, steel works, ceramics, sculptural works and object art: the purchases of the Cultural Office of the City of Mannheim reflect the enormous diversity of artistic forms of expression of the artists living in Mannheim. The exhibition series HEIMSPIEL, initiated in 2022, presents individual works of different genres and media and spans a wide range between young positions and established artists.
In recent years, the Cultural Office of the City of Mannheim has implemented a budget for art acquisitions that has been consolidated in the Corona Pandemic in order to directly support the Mannheim artists selected by a changing committee. In this way, individual works by currently 52 Mannheim artists could be purchased. With the continuation of the exhibition series, HEIMSPIEL 5 presents the latest acquisitions of the Cultural Office on the ground floor of PORT25. Part of the presentation is a conceptual exchange with Stefan Wäldele, who has invited three artists from Burkina Faso to a dialogue with HEIMSPIEL 5."
