Iron casting workshop in Estonia: Campus students travel to EKA in Tallinn

© Abigail Weiner

Once again, students from Idar-Oberstein took part in the iron casting workshop organised by the Estonian Academy of Arts. Together with international partners, the focus was on artistic experimentation and professional exchange.

The Gemstone and Jewellery Campus at Trier University of Applied Sciences took part in the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) iron casting workshop for the third time in a row. Under the direction of David Wilson and Nils Hint, the six participating students from Idar-Oberstein explored the special processing properties of iron. They experimented with different stages of the casting process, from material preparation to model and mould making to the final casting. In addition to the technical and artistic aspects, the focus was also on international exchange: the workshop offered a valuable opportunity to deepen specialist knowledge, try out new methods and network with students from partner schools. Many thanks to the EKA for the renewed cooperation!
