Every evening the temporary light installation "STAY SAFE" illuminates the historic university building on Paulusplatz. The interdisciplinary project of the disciplines communication design and intermedial design was developed and implemented with great commitment by the students Alois Kaufmann and Peter Ehses under the direction of Prof. Christopher Ledwig. With their action, they want to send a positive and lively signal from Campus Design, which can be discovered during an evening walk.
Since the usual classroom teaching with lectures cannot take place in the building at present, this light installation visualizes the activity in digital teaching. Since the beginning of the semester, all lectures and courses have taken place exclusively in digital form in the form of online lectures due to the Corona pandemic.
What is interesting about this project is the fusion of history and the latest technology: The building of the former arts and crafts school from the early 20th century and the modern visual projection merge into an artistic symbiosis. Past, present and future visions of Campus Design are in dialogue.
In order to avoid network cabling, LED lights were developed especially for this project, which can be controlled individually via WLAN. "STAY SAFE" - this is the message that is made visible in the evening hours through the play of light and shadow in the large windows of the building. To conduct the current summer semester exclusively online requires a great deal of creativity, initiative and commitment from students and teachers - these are exactly the qualities that Campus Design places great emphasis on.
