Studying gemstone and jewellery design in Idar-Oberstein

The department of gemstone and jewellery design (GJD) was founded 1986. Since then the study developed continuously. In the summer semester 2005 the department of gemstone and jewellery design was merged with architecture, interior architecture, communication design and fashion into the new department of design. The former departments are since then courses of study. GJD is offered at the location Idar-Oberstein, the other 4 courses take place in Trier.

The adjustment to the European study standard “Bachelor/Master of Arts” is prepared.
Starting from winter semester 2008/2009 and in close cooperation with the study Intermedial Design, we offer a bachelor, which prepares for the GJD master study. The master in gemstone and jewellery design is already offered from summer semester 2008.
